DESCRIPTION OF THE SACRED CITY OF CUSCO

The traditional visit of the city is the first recommended tour as an introduction that will allow a better understanding of what you might visit afterwards. It covers the visit of the Cathedral in Cusco and the Sun Temple (Koricancha), to then continue on to visit 4 archaeological sites in the city surroundings: the impressive Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo, Pucapucara and Tambomachay.
THE CATHEDRAL:
It was built over the Inca palace of Suntur Wasi, its construction took almost one century (94 years) artist from Cusco and Europe worked in its design. QORIKANCHA:
“Temple of the sun” It was in practice a synthesis of the Inkan organization, architecture and religion; that had already reached the summit of their level by 1438. It possibly represented the "NAVEL OF THE WORlD"; therefore, the world's center in the pre-hispanic Andean Cosmovision.
SAQSAYHUAMAN:
One of the most imposing architectonic complexes inherited from the Inkan Society is precisely SAQSAYHUAMAN, which because of several of its qualities is considered as one of the best monuments that mankind built on the earth's surface. Also people says that these walls are the most beautiful thing to be seen around Americas, is located to two Km north west from Cusco.
Q`ENQO :
It's situate 3 Kms from Cusco. The word Qenqo means laberint, it was a worship place where we can observe a huge rock which has several cuttings, one of the most important was the zigzag, issue of the name, by there passed chicha or blood. Those stones represented a cougar and it wake up with winter solstice, underneath the rock there are subterranean corridors, that is a mysterious tour that you do by Andean Luxury.
PUKAPUKARA:
Following the schedule this site is located at 7 Kms of Cusco, Pukapukara means "Red Fortress" this site was an administrative and military center, where we can find some aqueducts, short terraces, passages, turrets, and niches.
TAMBOMACHAY:
8 Kms from the city of Cusco. Well known as the Inca's bath, this Inca site was considered a place of the cult to the water.
